The Olympic Heritage | Artists in Residence programme aims to push the boundaries of how audiences experience the Olympic Games by bringing together the creative power of digital art with the Olympic Games’ historic and cultural significance.

Calling all multi-disciplinary artists!

We are thrilled to announce the Olympic Heritage | Artists in Residence programme, an extraordinary opportunity for artists working with digital and immersive media to critically engage with the world of sports culture and the Olympic Legacy.

The Olympic Heritage Artists in Residence Programme is a partnership between the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum and the Olympic Museum, Switzerland. This unique residency provides artists with unparalleled access to museum collections, mentorship, expert support and resources to create innovative, boundary-pushing digital art inspired by Olympic history.

Two artists will be selected (one for Doha, one for Lausanne) by an esteemed and prestigious international jury for a two-month residency. The resulting artworks and artists' digital diaries (films) will be selected and accessioned into the permanent collections of QOSM (Doha residency) and the Olympic Museum (Swiss residency), as part of a growing body of Olympic art in each institution.

What’s included?

  • Residency with exclusive access to museum collections.
  • Studio space at Fire Station (Doha residency) or La Becque Artist Residence, La Tour-de-Peilz (Swiss residency).
  • Round-trip flight tickets, accommodation and expenses allowance.
  • Mentorship by the jury.
  • QAR 30,000 or € 8,000 for the purchase of the resulting artwork for the museums’ permanent collections.
  • Participation in an international exhibition as a part of the Cultural Olympiad, including but not limited to the Cultural Olympiad taking place in the context of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Who Can Apply?

  • Applications are invited from artists whose professional practice involves a significant element of digital art.
  • You are encouraged to explore any form of digital media, which may also be combined with other physical media.
  • We invite multi-disciplinary artists worldwide who are aged at least 18 or under 35 on 31.12.2025
  • Entry to the competition is free of charge.

Application Requirements

  • Applications must be submitted in English in digital format on the JotForm provided.
  • The deadline for submission is 31 May 2025 23:59:00 GMT+1. Applications received after the application deadline cannot be accepted. The residency period is 1 October – 1 December 2025.
  • Applicants must complete all required fields. Incomplete entries cannot be accepted.
  • Applicants must follow the requirements on the form. Applications that do not meet these requirements cannot be accepted.

Our international jury will assess artists’ proposals based on their creativity, technical skill, and the strength of their ideas to redefine sports culture through digital innovation.

We would love for you to be a part of this transformative experience and contribute to the global conversation on sports culture and Olympic history.

The winners will be announced on 16 July 2025.
